Rooted Fibres: Crafting Art From Place
A 3 hour workshop designed to inspire creative self-expression rooted in the beauty of place.

Rooted Fibres is an immersive workshop set on our farm, where you'll engage with the land, the animals, and the stories that inspire the life of this place. From the very beginning, you’ll be invited into the world of our herd, starting with our sheep. Through their wool, you’ll learn the ancient practice of wool processing, a craft deeply connected to the land and its rhythms.

Our time begins with meeting our sheep and hearing the stories that intertwine their lives with ours—the history of the herd, the land we live on, and the wild creatures that roam it. You'll be guided through the wool processing steps, learning how to take raw fleece and turn it into felt. Your first creation will be a felted rock, a piece that reflects the grounding energy of the earth and the tactile beauty of wool.

Next, using one of our handcrafted felted soaps made from our sheep’s wool, you'll dive deeper into the art of needle felting by designing a nature-inspired pattern on your chosen felted soap. Let the trees, plants, horses, and sheep around you guide your creativity as you felt directly onto the soap, blending the soft fibres with your artistic vision.
"Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place in the family of things."
Mary Oliver
Throughout the workshop, you’ll have time to reflect, connect with the land, and let the farm’s natural beauty inspire your artistic process. You’ll leave with both your felted rock and felted soap creation, each piece a reminder of the deeper connection between natural fibre, art, and nature and the vibrancy of your own precious soul.
Bring your beautifully crafted art home and recall the gifts of this experience every time you wash with your felted soap or rhythmically calm your mind with your felted rock.

Workshop includes all supplies. No felting or art experience necessary.
NOTE: The soap used comes from family-owned The Soap Works from Woodbridge, Ontario. The soap is biodegradable, eco-friendly, with no chemicals or synthetic perfumes. The options we select are gluten and casein free. During registration you will have the option to select from three different types: Bee Pollen, Olive Oil, or Oatmeal.
